GIACINTO

We have recently received a letter from Giacinto in which he tells us that he has finished his work and that he thinks we can share with everyone what he is leaving us in the rooms of aarduork.
But who is Giacinto? The name of a flower that signifies hope, renewal and prosperity, but which conceals a careful and patient person. Giacinto is a philologist studying the epistolary exchange between Marta Magini and Nicola Di Croce. They approached him and entrusted him with everything they had shared in recent years - texts, songs, books, places and things.
Through his gaze, the norms and customs of a rich exchange appear.
Giacinto is rigorous in his analysis: he does not report the content of any text exchanged, because what interests him are the norms that govern the whole exchange.
He only shares his notes with us, leaving it to everyone's imagination to project themselves beyond the mirror of these implicit rules he has found.
Episode 15 is the playground of a philologist who is a devotee of epistolary letters and a lover of experimental music. The analysed words are thrown into the white cube of aarduork, transforming it into a cosy place to listen and wait for a collective narrative and relational experiment to unfold.
Lying, sitting and relaxing on the floor, we can only ask ourselves: what canons are implicitly adopted in an interpersonal exchange? What intentions? What multiple negotiations? What mutual seductions? Is it possible to make an exhibition about a bond of friendship, trust and affinity?
Giacinto has informed us that he will not be able to attend the opening in person. However, he has left us a room to decipher, decode and address with curiosity Marta Magini and Nicola Di Croce. The words, notes and mixtape he has left us are for all of us to enjoy a moment of encounter with each other.

Marta Magini e Nicola Di Croce

The collaboration between Magini and Di Croce explores the potential of epistolary exchange for artistic, sound and performance creation. They worked on the performance ‘Swinging is like saying no no’ (2023) and the performance-concert ‘Richiamo’ (2024) presented at numerous festivals nationwide.
Nicola Di Croce is a sound artist and researcher. Marta Magini is an artist and performer. They live and work in Venice.
