PUNTI DI FUGA
‘In the beginning of days on Earth, sounds and noises were not communication between beings, no, no necessary transmission to each other. A cacophony of roars, thunder, wind, sea. Then, sounds of bacteria and cells, construction of bodies. An eternal metamorphosis where the only certainty is change.’
Matilde Sambo, generates composite narratives through her artistic research and the use of different languages such as sculpture, video, sound and performance. The body, whether human or animal-non-human, is always the hinge around which her practice develops. Her process is always on the threshold between instinct and rationality with continuous references to human evolution and the relationship established between living beings and the environment.
Punti di Fuga leads to a fascination of suspended time in which we are transported into a perpetual connection between bodies, sounds and life forms. Time, the slow mechanism of this world, regulates bodies and their perceptive sensitivities in an extremely sensorial imaginative tale. The moving images recorded by Matilde Sambo are composed in a symphonic discourse of voice, music, perspective and observation. As she allows herself to be traversed by what she films, she takes us by the hand and accompanies us into a continuous space of skies, animals, languages and skins. A flight, a journey, a visual expedition dedicated to those who observe every day with eyes and ears wide open, suggesting to live with the happiness of perceiving everything as part of an ancient time.
