Salizada Zorzi, Castello 4931, Venezia
A vast plain welcomes humans and non-humans alike into a world that belongs to no century. Night’s dawn is nearly over, and everything is visible as part of the moon’s glow. A cavern breaks the expanse. It is the doorway through which all have entered, and those who once were outside have been called in; now they bear the mark of the cavern on their bodies. All these figures have risen from the bowels of the world. During a winter solstice, time was marked by the birth of a dragon. It undoubtedly brought a generous gift for everyone: the lie of harmony. A curious caravan witnesses the event, watching the scene in wonder.
Melania Fusco (Naples, 1987) is a visual artist living and working in Venice. Her research explores the dissonances of everyday life, moving through liminal spaces where error, misunderstanding, and misinterpretation become generative forces of alternative imaginaries populated by hybrid entities and phantasmagorical visions drawn from a sentimental iconographic archive. Her work weaves together memory, biography, and interior landscapes, creating images suspended between latent frustrations, unstable emotional states, and altered perceptions of recollection. She graduated in Visual Arts at IUAV, she has been co-founder since 2022 of the network comecome.info, dedicated to artist-run spaces in the Venetian area, and since 2025 she has been active in the studio Lama Farfalla. She has collaborated on performative projects including Ostensione #1 (GAM – Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Torino, 2024), created together with artist Maria Morganti, and the performance They Come to Us without a Word by Joan Jonas, presented at the United States Pavilion at the 56th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia (2015). She has exhibited, among others, at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa (Venice), Spazio Su (Lecce), and Arte Fiera Polis (Bologna).
