Lagoon Surfaces is an artistic research project that began after the high water of 2019. Tiziano Ciao’s works arise from the observation of water and its effects on surfaces; the pieces capture the marks of time and the tides.

Venice, nestled between the sea and the lagoon, is perhaps the most compelling example of the relationship between humans and water. The lagoon landscape of the salt marshes is shaped by the constant flow of tides and currents, and the entire city exists by designing with and incorporating the element of water. Solid, liquid, and gaseous—in all its forms—every surface in contact with it changes and transforms.

The sound waves accompanying Lagoon Surfaces are dedicated to the element of water and its musical and sonic interpretations.
